日本の叙勲褒章は
毎年春（4月～5月）と秋（11月頃）の2回行われます。
Japanese decorations are usually conferred twice a year in spring and Autumn.

●大勲位菊花章頚飾（Collar of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum ）●大勲位菊花大綬章（Collar of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum ）旭日大綬章、また瑞宝大綬章を授与されるべき功労のある方（主に、外国人元首など）
旭日章（Orders of the Rising Sun ）
男性のみを対象、（勲章は、旭日昇天の意気を表徴し、桐の花がついた勲章

文化の発達に関し、特に功績をあげられた方

自己の危険を顧みないで人命救助に徹した方
Awarded to individuals who have risked their own lives to save the lives of others
緑綬褒章（Medal with Green ribbon)
ボランティア活動など優れた道徳心で顕著な実績をあげた方
Awarded to morally remarkable individuals who have actively taken part in serving the society
黄綬褒章(Meddale with Yellow ribbon)
農家、一般勤労者を対象、業務に奨励民衆の模範となった方
Awarded to individuals who, through their diligence and perseverance, became public role models
紫綬褒章(Medal with Purple ribbon)
わが国の学術、芸術に多大なる貢献、事績著名な方
Awarded to individuals who have contributed to academic and artistic developments,
improvements and accomplishments
藍綬褒章(Medal with Blue Ribbon)
教育、衛生、慈善、防疫の事業、建設、森林、水産、商工業などで顕著な功績を上げた方
Awarded to individuals who have made prosperous efforts in the areas of public welfare and education
紺綬褒章(Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon)
公益の為,私財を寄付し顕著な功績をあげた方
Awarded to individuals who have made exceptionally generous financial contributions
for the good of the public
